Bridal Gala Lives to Its Billing

The annual Sunday Mail Bridal gala and expo lived to its billing on Saturday at the Harare International Conference Centre.

The event saw various people walking away with prizes.

Zimpapers has been, for years, hailed for coming up with an event that brings couples together as well as encouraging people to wed.

Merrymakers were treated to memorable event as they had a chance to see different companies exhibiting their products.

The expo that took place in the afternoon exhibited various bridal wares from companies that were part of the event.

Rain showers in early hours of the night did not spoil the fun as thousands of music fans thronged HICC for a music gala that closed the expo.

Musicians Jah Prayzah, Oliver Mtukudzi and Winky D performed at the event.

Zimpapers group marketing director Tapiwa Mandimutsira who was speaking on behalf of chief executive officer Pikirai Deketeke encouraged people to keep on supporting the event that has been growing by each year.

He thanked the sponsors and urged them to keep supporting the event that has played a fundamental role in bringing and keeping families together.

”We are forever thankful to our various sponsors who have sponsored the wedding prize. We hope that they will keep partnering us for the noble initiative. A big thank you to our Zimpapers Harare Branch team headed by Mr Sam Bepe for hosting us, our marketing department headed by Munya Katsere for putting this event together as well as the Sunday Mail Editor Mr Mabasa Sasa,” he said.

Hollyness Mugabe-Chikwata was voted the bride of the year and she won $1 000, air tickets to Victoria Falls for a second honeymoon and personal care hamper from Exquisite.

First runner-up Audrey Makazhe-Mutengwa won $8 00, a second honeymoon in Bulawayo and personal hamper from Exquisite while second runner-up Linah Kachidza- Mustiva got $600 and a holiday in Harare.

Enetty Mudemba- Mlambo won the cake of year prize and she won $700, air ticket to Vic Falls for a holida and personal care hamper from Exquisite while first runner-up Linna Kachidza pocketed $600 second honeymoon in Bulawayo and personal care hamper from Exquisite.

Yeukai Madzimure-Mukore was second runner-up and got a voucher for holiday in Harare and personal care hamper from Exquisite.

Photographer of the year winner Chenesai Monera got $300, first runner-up Joseph Bute got $200 and Itap Media was second runner-up and pocketed $100.

Baker of the year was L Rwodzi who got $300, first runner- up Tamanda Benyure pocketed $200 and Tsitsi Rupanga was given $100 for being second runner-up.

Musicians who performed at the event gave their best.

Jah Prayzah was the first musician to take the stage and the musician staged a good act.

Songs such as ”Eriza”,”Hello”, ”Mukadzi Wangu”, ”Chinamira” among others were popular with the merrymakers.

The energetic musician sampled a song from his coming album that will be released in August.

The musician displayed some dancing routines that thrilled fans.

Mtukudzi was next on stage and the superstar made sure he lives up to his mettle.

His yesteryear hits kept fans on the dance floor.

Until his last song ”Ndasakura Ndazunza” people were still on the dancing floor.

Winky D was the last performer and the musician managed to keep the standards that were set by other performers.

The musician who was in China recently proved why he is one of the best dancehall performers in the country.
